One last goodbye kiss to winter – Decay of the Dark is a story that reminds us that the dark can be a friendly place. Without the dark, we cannot see the light, just be in a searingly bright world. No positive without negative, no yin without yang, no dusk without dawn.

In Decay of the Dark, I write about a woman like myself, who yearns for the dark, starlit skies of her youth, who abhors the ever-present LEDS in every room, who regrets the need for a nightlight so she doesn’t fall and break a hip on her way to the bathroom.
And Persimmon Tree magazine published it! I enjoyed working with editor Margaret Wagner to polish it up, and am honored to be in a publication that Gloria Steinem helped found, in 2007. Turn on your reading light, and explore the dark.
